APRA Disqualified Register
The Australian Prudential Authority (APRA) is the prudential regulator of the Australian financial services industry. APRA may apply to the Federal Court seeking orders to disqualify an individual from holding prudentially significant roles within the Australian authorised deposit-taking, general insurance and superannuation industries.
This search will confirm if an individual has been disqualified by APRA and is crucial where an individual has applied for a significant role in an APRA-regulated industry.
For such positions, relevant police and bankruptcy checks are also recommended as an individual may automatically become a ‘disqualified person’ under certain circumstances; for example, if he or she is convicted of an offence involving dishonest conduct or becomes bankrupt. APRA’s disqualification register only records individuals disqualified by APRA and not those automatically disqualified.
