Bankruptcy

The Insolvency and Trustee Service Australia (ITSA) is responsible for maintaining an index containing information on proceedings and administrations under the Bankruptcy Act 1966. This index is called the National Personal Insolvency Index (NPII).

First Advantage’s bankruptcy data comes directly from the NPII. This check will confirm if an individual (including aliases and associated parties) has been declared bankrupt and recorded with ITSA.

An individual with a recorded bankruptcy will be disqualified from holding certain positions of responsibility. A bankruptcy check is recommended for senior management positions and finance roles, and may also be relevant where an individual has access to funds or budgets.
